Imagine America Promise Scholarship Program

In 2002, the Foundation created the Imagine America Promise scholarship program. This exciting program is the actualization of the Foundation's promise to assist students who are currently attending participating Imagine America colleges by way of the Imagine America high school scholarship and whose exceptional grades show a strong commitment to their current program of study.

This important program works with corporate and private funding sources to secure additional aid for students attending Imagine America participating career colleges throughout the United States and in Puerto Rico. To date, the Foundation has secured more than $450,000 in grants, which have supported more than 550 career college students. Imagine America Promise supporters include Nelnet, Inc., Lockheed Martin, the Sallie Mae Fund, Northrop Grumman Litton, Dell Computer Corporation, the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund, the Fields Foundation, Mercedes-Benz USA, the Spirit of America Endowment contributors and the 21st Century Workforce contributors.

The Imagine America Promise scholarship program builds upon our award-winning Imagine America scholarship program, for which career colleges provide funding for scholarships. Imagine America Promise scholarships originate in another way — solely from grants made by our sponsors. The Imagine America Promise scholarship provides $500 and $1,000 cash grants toward the student's schooling.

Students need not apply for these Imagine America Promise scholarships

Prospective recipients must be nominated by a participating college and meet the following scholarship criteria:

  • Student must have been an Imagine America (high school) scholarship recipient;
  • Student must be currently enrolled in his/her course of study;
  • Student's graduation date must be after December 31;
  • Student must have maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA;
  • Student must currently have a 95 percent or higher attendance record;
  • Student must obtain a written recommendation from a faculty/administrator representative of his/her career college; and
  • A copy of the student's transcript must be sent with the nomination form.

Imagine America Foundation responsibilities

  • Scholarship monies will be forwarded and applied to student's tuition balance
  • Scholarship is non-transferable, non-negotiable and non-refundable
  • Scholarship can be revoked if recipient's current education is discontinued for any reason
  • All incomplete applications will be deemed ineligible
  • Imagine America Promise is a one time award

The funding for Imagine America Promise is expected to increase annually. Career colleges can increase their access to these funds by expanding their participation in the original program. The greater the number of Imagine America students at a career college, the greater the number of Imagine America Promise scholarships the Foundation can provide to their students. If a career college is not enrolled in Imagine America, its students will not have access to these new scholarships. Career colleges are encouraged to enroll in Imagine America.
