Lance Credeur Wins 2009 Imagine America Foundation LDRSHIP Award
(Washington, D.C.) – The Imagine America Foundation recently awarded the annual 2009 LDRSHIP Award to five worthy individuals in the career school industry. Lance Credeur earned the distinguished honor through his work at Remington College in Lafayette, LA and his service in the United States Army.
“In addition to my service in the military, it’s the best achievement I’ve ever had,” Credeur said about receiving the award.
While on tour in Iraq, Credeur rebuilt schools, provided Iraqi children with new school materials and supplied fuel to small towns. Credeur is proud of his service in the U.S. Army and has gained valuable knowledge that he will use the rest of his life.
While working toward his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking Administration, Credeur has maintained a 4.0 GPA and near perfect attendance.
As a current National Guardsman, Credeur intends to find a career in IT – specifically in Computer Automation – once he completes his degree from Remington College.
“We encourage our students who have military background to apply for this award every year,” Joann Boudreaux, Remington College President, said. “We were so excited that someone from our school campus had won. I hurried up and called Lance and told him, and he was so excited!”
The LDRSHIP award is given to exceptional students who demonstrate Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage throughout their education and service in the military.
“It’s a privilege to honor the 2009 LDRSHIP recipients with this award,” said Robert L. Martin, Imagine America Foundation President. “For their admirable and courageous service to our country, we extend deepest appreciation. It’s now our turn to give something back to them.”
The Imagine America Foundation established the LDRSHIP Award in 2004 to recognize and honor exceptional career college students who have served their country honorably in the military and decided to further their education. The LDRSHIP Award offers up to $5,000 in cash grants toward college tuition to active duty, reservist, honorably discharged or retired U.S. military veterans attending a participating Imagine America institution.
