Imagine America Foundation Honors Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics Student Edward Costantino with a 2011 LDRSHIP Award

West Mifflin, Pa. (June 22, 2011) – The Imagine America Foundation is pleased to announce that Edward Costantino of the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics is among 10 recipients to receive the Foundation’s 2011 LDRSHIP Award.

The Imagine American Foundation presents the LDRSHIP award annually to students who are active duty, reservist, or honorably discharged from the military and who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average while in school. Students must also post an attendance record of 95 percent or better.  The cash grant, given in the amount of up to $2,500, will help Costantino as he completes his current education.

Costantino, a United States Navy veteran enrolled in the Institute’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program, was selected for his impressive military record and excellent grades.

“After six years of military aviation, I came to the school thinking it would be easy,” Costantino said. “Now in my third quarter, every class has been a challenge. I really appreciate how the instructors help with any questions the students have and the faculty in helping us pursue scholarships and grants. It was very exciting to learn that I was one of the 10 recipients of the LDRSHIP Award. Attending PIA has really been beneficial and I look forward to what’s next.”

Costantino, who has achieved a 4.0 GPA, received a variety of awards during his military career, including a National Defense Service Medal and four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.

Since 2004, the Foundation, the largest scholarship provider to career college institutions, has annually honored military personnel with LDRSHIP Awards. More than $325,000 has been awarded to exceptional military students attending career colleges nationwide.

2011 LDRSHIP Award recipients were recognized through a video presentation on June 8, 2011 at the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities Annual Convention & Exposition at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas featuring Gen. Colin Powell.  To view the presentation, visit
