Imagine America Foundation Honors Miller-Motte Technical College Student Donna Parker with a 2011 LDRSHIP Award
Chattanooga, Tenn. (June 22, 2011) – The Imagine America Foundation is pleased to announce that Donna Parker of Miller-Motte Technical College in Chattanooga, TN is among 10 recipients to receive the Foundation’s 2011 LDRSHIP Award.
The Imagine American Foundation presents the LDRSHIP award annually to students who are active duty, reservist, or honorably discharged from the military and who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average while in school. Students must also post an attendance record of 95 percent or better. The cash grant, given in the amount of up to $2,500, will help Parker as she completes her current education.
Parker, a United States Army National Guard veteran enrolled in Miller-Motte’s Medical Assisting program, was selected for her impressive military record and excellent grades.
“The contributions that students like Donna make in serving our country and the commitments they’ve made in the classroom are astounding,” said Robert L. Martin, president of the Imagine America Foundation. “It’s our honor to recognize her.”
Parker, who has achieved a 3.89 GPA, received a variety of awards during her military career, including an Army Commendation Medal and an Iraq Campaign Medal.
Since 2004, the Foundation, the largest scholarship provider to career college institutions, has annually honored military personnel with LDRSHIP Awards. More than $325,000 has been awarded to exceptional military students attending career colleges nationwide.
2011 LDRSHIP Award recipients were recognized through a video presentation on June 8, 2011 at the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities Annual Convention & Exposition at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas featuring Gen.
