Imagine America Foundation Honors Latisha Jefferson with LDRSHIP Award
Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2010) – Latisha Jefferson, of Remington College in Shreveport, La. deserves all of the credit and honor she is due. Jefferson was recently given a 2010 LDRSHIP Award from the Imagine America Foundation. After serving in the United States Army, she is now pursuing an associate’s degree in Business Office Management at Remington College.
Jefferson was one of seven individuals selected to receive this year’s LDRSHIP Award. The award has been given every year since 2004 to honor the accomplishments of those who have served in the military and chosen to further their education at a career college. The cash grant, given in the amount of up to $5,000, will help Jefferson as she completes her current education.
While Jefferson is a full-time student at Remington College, she is also raising a family. She possesses qualities that prove she is exemplary of what the LDRSHIP Award stands for: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. Honors Jefferson received while serving with the United States Army include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star. As a student at Remington College, she has maintained a 4.0 GPA as well as a perfect attendance record.
“It is a terrific honor for Latisha to receive such an important national award. She exemplifies everything a Remington College student should be,” said Jerry Driskill, Remington College-Shreveport Campus President.
The Imagine America Foundation honored its 2010 LDRSHIP Award recipients during an awards luncheon at the annual Career College Association (CCA) Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas on June 10. The LDRSHIP Award is sponsored by Ambassador College Bookstores, Blackboard Pro Ed, and supporters of the Imagine America Foundation’s 21st Century Workforce Fund.
“It’s a privilege to honor the 2010 LDRSHIP recipients with this award for their admirable and courageous service to our country.” said Robert L. Martin, Imagine America Foundation President. “Now it’s our turn to give something back to them.”
To receive the award, applicants must be currently enrolled in an Imagine America or CCA member college, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, and at least a 95% attendance record.
