Imagine America Foundation Honors Kimberly Cupery with LDRSHIP Award

Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2010) – Herzing University has much to be proud of as one if its students, Kimberly Cupery, received a 2010 LDRSHIP Award from the Imagine America Foundation. A leader by example, Cupery is pursuing an associate degree in Nursing at Herzing University in Madison, Wisc. Cupery was one of seven gifted individuals to receive the LDRSHIP Award, which is given annually to recognize the talents and accomplishments of military personnel who are currently attending career colleges. The cash grant of up to $5,000 will help Cupery complete her current career education at Herzing University.

The LDRSHIP Award stands for Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage, all characteristics Cupery has shown not only in the military, but also in the classroom. While she was serving in the United States Army, she was honored with the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal. As a Herzing University student, Cupery has maintained a 3.84 GPA along with a perfect attendance record.

“Just check her background, this young lady is an outstanding citizen,” said Donald Madelung, president of Herzing Univeristy-Madison Campus. “She’s someone you’d be proud to have represent you. She’s going to make a difference in her community someday.”

The Imagine America Foundation honored its 2010 LDRSHIP Award recipients during an awards luncheon at the annual Career College Association (CCA) Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas on June 10. The LDRSHIP Award is sponsored by Ambassador College Bookstores, Blackboard Pro Ed, and supporters of the Imagine America Foundation’s 21st Century Workforce Fund.

“It’s a privilege to honor the 2010 LDRSHIP recipients with this award for their admirable and courageous service to our country.” said Robert L. Martin, Imagine America Foundation President. “Now it’s our turn to give something back to them.”

To receive the award, applicants must be currently enrolled in an Imagine America or CCA member college, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, and at least a 95% attendance record.
