Imagine America Foundation Honors Harrison College Student Joy Mattson-Dossey with a 2011 LDRSHIP Award

Indianapolis, Ind. (June 22, 2011) – The Imagine America Foundation is pleased to announce that Joy Mattson-Dossey of Harrison College in Indianapolis, Ind. is among 10 recipients to receive the Foundation’s 2011 LDRSHIP Award.

The Imagine American Foundation presents the LDRSHIP award annually to students who are active duty, reservist, or honorably discharged from the military and who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average while in school. Students must also post an attendance record of 95 percent or better.  The cash grant, given in the amount of up to $2,500, will help Mattson-Dossey as she completes her current education.

Mattson-Dossey, a United States Air Force veteran enrolled in Harrison College’s Accounting and Human Resources program, was selected for her impressive military record and excellent grades.

“Harrison College faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring that current military servicemen and women, their family members, and our nation’s veterans, have every opportunity to excel as they pursue their post-secondary education,” said Greg Reger, Harrison College’s Indianapolis Downtown Campus President.  “We’re very proud of Joy Mattson-Dossey, and thank the Imagine America Foundation for making this scholarship available to the men and women who serve our country so admirably.”

Mattson-Dossey, who has achieved a 3.89 GPA, received a variety of awards during her military career, including an Air Force Achievement Medal and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

Since 2004, the Foundation, the largest scholarship provider to career college institutions, has annually honored military personnel with LDRSHIP Awards. More than $325,000 has been awarded to exceptional military students attending career colleges nationwide.
