Imagine America Foundation Honors Alfredo Rosado with LDRSHIP Award
Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2010) – It’s not everyday you come across a student as accomplished as Alfredo Rosado. After serving our country in the United States Marine Corps, he is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Westwood College in Chicago, Ill. Rosado is also a recipient of the 2010 Imagine America Foundation LDRSHIP Award.
Rosado received the LDRSHIP Award among six other accomplished individuals. The Imagine America Foundation gives this award annually to recognize those who have served our country and are now pursuing an education at a career college. The cash grant of up to $5,000 will help Rosado complete his current education at Westwood College. Rosado is exemplary of each trait the LDRSHIP Award stands for: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. While he served in the United States Marine Corps, he earned several honors such as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal. His accomplishments have carried over into his education as he has maintained a 4.0 GPA and a near-perfect attendance record.
“Alfredo had an exemplary service record in the Marine Corps and his accomplishments are evidence of his willingness to go above and beyond what was expected,” said Alan Stutts, Executive Director of Westwood College-Chicago. “He has continued to demonstrate his commitment to giving extra energy and effort in his educational accomplishments at Westwood College.”
The Imagine America Foundation honored its 2010 LDRSHIP Award recipients during an awards luncheon at the annual Career College Association (CCA) Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas on June 10. The LDRSHIP Award is sponsored by Ambassador College Bookstores, Blackboard Pro Ed, and supporters of the Imagine America Foundation’s 21st Century Workforce Fund.
“It’s a privilege to honor the 2010 LDRSHIP recipients with this award for their admirable and courageous service to our country.” said Robert L. Martin, Imagine America Foundation President. “Now it’s our turn to give something back to them.”
To receive the award, applicants must be currently enrolled in an Imagine America or CCA member college, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, and at least a 95% attendance record.
