Imagine America Foundation Announces $500,000 Gift from Hank & Suzanne Herzing

Washington, D.C. (August 29, 2007) – Career education changes lives. These are words heard by many people involved in the career college sector of education. For Hank and Suzanne Herzing, they’ve been words to live by. Their donation of $500,000 to the Imagine America Foundation is a show of commitment that will not only resonate throughout the sector; it will continue to resonate throughout the lives of career college students.

The donation will go toward supporting the 21st Century Workforce Fund. The goal of this nationwide initiative is to conduct research and establish programs to elevate the public’s understanding of the vital role of career colleges and their students.

“I am personally and professionally indebted to the Herzings for their unprecedented generosity,” said Robert L. Martin, president of the Imagine America Foundation. “This gift not only insures that our new program – 21st Century Workforce Fund – is off to a successful start, but also that the Imagine America Foundation’s long-term finances are solid. Thank you, Hank and Suzanne.”

Imagine America Foundation hopes to raise $3 million in pledges to underwrite important new research studies, and scholarship and training programs. The Herzings’ gift will help enable the Foundation to carry out a mission that is crucial to the future of the career college sector.

“Hopefully, this will serve as a catalyst for a really significant fund-raising activity based on a longer-range goal,” Hank Herzing said. “I want to build an endowment and not just operative funds. I’d like to see IAF given $400,000-$500,000 on a recurring basis to support its research initiative, which ultimately will help secure the career college sector’s respected placement within the larger realm of higher education.”

More than 25 years have passed since the days when Hank Herzing began soliciting contributions and support for the organization that would eventually come to be called the Imagine America Foundation. As the first chairman of the Foundation, Hank’s commitment to higher education has been integral to the Imagine America Foundation’s path to becoming the leading scholarship and research provider for the career college sector.
