A Year in Review
In these tough economic times, Americans are turning to higher education to improve their future. It is our mission to assist those who are seeking career education. Last year the Imagine America scholarship and award program received more applications than ever before.
One of our greatest successes in the past year has been the increase in applications for the Imagine America Adult Skills Education Program (ASEP) for adult students. In the first year of existence, we experienced a 35 percent growth in applications received.
Together with the support of nearly 600 participating colleges and 15,000 high school counselors, the Imagine America high school scholarship program assisted nearly 10,000 graduating high school seniors.
Increased visibility has helped the Foundation reach more students. Last year on average, the Foundation's website received over 14,000 visitors a month, 10,000 of which were new visitors!
We believe the best audience to judge whether or not our scholarship and award programs have been successful are the recipients themselves.
Those students were surveyed by the esteemed research organization, Wonderlic. We were excited to find that 96.8 percent would recommend the scholarship and award programs to a friend. More students than ever before are having to use student loans to finance their education. To help protect their future, the Imagine America Foundation created an easy-to-use interactive online tool – Financial Planning Made Simple (FPMS). Beginning March 1, 2011, this tool will be integrated into all Imagine America scholarship and award programs.
New to the career college sector, Instructional Practice in Higher Education: An Online Journal was released. This online, peer-reviewed publication was developed with Career Education Corporation as a forum to showcase best practices and new ideas from experts in the community.
Our continued success to impact students' lives is contingent upon generous contributions to the 21st Century Workforce Fund. Thank you to our supporters who continue to contribute to the Foundation's success. We expect 2011 to bring even more great accomplishments.
