The Foundation has experienced several momentous accomplishments in the past year. The Foundation received over 10,000 student applications for the Imagine America high school scholarship program, an increase of nearly 25 percent from the previous year. The Imagine America Military Award Program received more than 3,400 applications in 2008, up 65 percent from 2007. New to the scholarship and award program family is the Foundation’s Adult Skills Education Program (ASEP). ASEP caters to learners 21 years of age or older who are attending participating career colleges.

Through its supporters, the Foundation sponsors additional programs such as the Imagine America Promise scholarship program. This program was created to assist students who are currently attending participating Imagine America colleges by way of the Imagine America high school scholarship and whose exceptional grades show a strong commitment to their current program of study. In 2008, students from 34 different campuses received the Promise scholarship. Since this program’s inception in 2002, the Foundation has provided more than $500,000 in financial assistance to over 600 students attending career colleges across the Unites States.

After receiving a record number of applications (400) for the LDRSHIP Award, the Foundation awarded $60,000 in cash grants to 12 military students. LDRSHIP Award recipients were honored at two prestigious ceremonies: the CCA Convention’s general session and on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., last fall. The Foundation, in collaboration with ED MAP, launched a new webinar series titled “Millennials & Neo-Millennials: The Webinar Series,” getting 2009 off to a great start. The new Fact Book 2009: A Profile of Career Colleges and Universities was released. And the Center for Excellence has successfully trained thousands of career college instructors using its unique lifecycle training process for faculty development.
