The Editorial Board is comprised of employees of Career Education Corporation (CEC), charged with evaluation of submissions to ensure adherence to a consistent style and appropriate documentation.


Trent Bartholomew
Education Program Administrator

Trent Bartholomew has been an English instructor for over 15 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Education. His current position is with Career Education Corporation in the Allied Health division as an Academic Administrator. Trent oversees 26 schools where he trains and supports all academic personnel at each campus.   

Dr. Terry Dixon

Dr. Terry Dixon holds a Doctorate Degree from University of Nebraska - Lincoln, a Master of Science Degree from Illinois State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology from Cumberland College, and additional work at the University of Illinois and Northwest Missouri State University.  In 1979 he joined the faculty of Tarkio College where he served as an instructor in education, advancing to the rank of professor.  From 1980 to 1989, he served as the Chair of the Division of Education, Science, Physical Education and Dance. From 1989 to 1994 he served as Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Central Texas. From 1993 to 2000 he served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and, in 1998, Acting President of Clarkson College. From 2000 to 2005, he served as Vice President for Academic Affairs for Troy State University at Montgomery and in 2006 as Associate Provost for the Troy University system.  Prior to his present position, Dixon was Provost and Chief Academic Officer for the American Intercontinental University, a for-profit, online intercontinental university.

Dixon is a higher education consultant, serves as a National Coordinator for the American Council on Education, has co-written and consulted in the development of millions of dollars in grants, is a produced playwright, a published poet, recognized researcher, author for a variety of publications, including Enhance Magazine, Instructor, and School and Community among others. Dixon completed Hampton University’s Executive Leadership Program. He has created and led national projects such as the National Time Capsule and presented widely concerning career planning, especially for higher education administrators. In 2006, he was selected by the Tarkio College Alumni Association as Outstanding Faculty for Tarkio College 20 years after he taught at the College. In 1997 he was inducted into the Cumberland College Alumni Hall of Honor and was identified as one of the top 100 graduates in the history of Cumberland College.

Dr. Sonia Heywood
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
Briarcliffe College

Dr. Sonia Heywood spent several years working in Corporate America in various leadership positions prior to entering the field of higher education.  She has served as Department Chair of the FlexNet program for the Fort Lauderdale campus of the University of Phoenix, Dean of Business and Legal Studies for the Buckhead Campus of American InterContinental University (AIU), University Dean of Graduate Studies and Innovative Learning for AIU, and currently as Provost and Chief Academic Officer for Briarcliffe College.  As such, she has extensive experience in accreditation, curriculum and instruction, evaluation, program development, and distance learning.

Dr. Heywood graduated with a B.S. in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.B.A. and D.B.A. in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
