Washington, D.C. (August 23, 2007) – A good education is one of the first steps to securing a dream. With the help of the Imagine America Foundation, students all over the country are starting to see their futures get a little brighter.
In August, 59 exceptional students received Imagine America Promise scholarships in the amounts of $1,000 each. The recipients are from 21 career colleges at 28 campus locations throughout the United States.
The Imagine America Promise Scholarship program works with corporate and private funding sources to secure additional aid for adult students attending career colleges throughout the United States and in Puerto Rico. To date, the Foundation has secured more than $300,000 in grants, which have supported more than 350 career college students. Imagine America Promise supporters include The Sallie Mae Fund, EMB Medical Services and the Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund.
“Scholarships are a very important part of the Foundation,” said Robert L. Martin, president of the Imagine America Foundation. “It’s rewarding to be able to assist in molding tomorrow’s leaders by helping them finance their education today.”
Students receiving the scholarships are previous recipients of the Foundation’s Imagine America high school scholarship, who have maintained a minimum 3.5 grade point average and at least 95 percent attendance record. Recipients were nominated by a faculty member or representative of his or her college.
