The Martha Frances Crigler Byrne Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Martha (Marty) Frances Crigler Byrne, a 1970 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School in Shelbyville, TN. Marty passed away in 2004 from a long illness. She dedicated 10 years of her professional career to higher education at the Career College Association. Her mother, Frances Crigler, of Shelbyville, TN, serves as chairman of the scholarship program.
This scholarship offers two graduating seniors from Shelbyville Central High School in Shelbyville, TN, scholarship grants to attend the college of their choice. In 2005, the first recipients, Emily Taylor and Josh Bobo, were selected for scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each. Ross Beaver and Katie Feldhaus were the 2006 recipients. In 2007, Colleen Marquart and Taylor Crigler received $5,000 scholarships, and Nikita Graham and Chelsea Philpott each received $2,500 scholarships.
